"I have always loved the atmosphere small towns offer.  Southport reminds me somewhat of the town I grew up in..."

Ask Blaney Williams for a recommendation on a good Cabernet and you are sure to get a great answer.  The one time owner of a Southport wine shop, Blaney also has a great nose for real estate.  The newest member of the RE/MAX Southern Coast team, Blaney has been visiting the Southport-Oak Island area since the 1980’s.  A North Carolina native, Blaney made the decision to become a permanent resident in 1999, first in Oak Island and currently in historic Southport. He worked for the state of North Carolina and later owned two small businesses before earning his real estate license.  “I have always loved the atmosphere small towns offer.  Southport reminds me somewhat of the town I grew up in.  When I had the opportunity to buy a business here, I didn’t hesitate on making the move.”

Joining RE/MAX Southern Coast also seemed like the right move.  “Buying and selling personal properties gave me a taste for real estate and I made the decision several years ago to make it my career.  I have always liked the RE/MAX business model and its reputation in the industry.  When the Southern Coast office opened downtown, it was a logical move for me…it just felt like the place I needed to be.”

Working with second-home buyers as well as retirees relocating to Brunswick County is an area of particular interest.  “I love the outdoor recreation that the area offers and the warmth of small town life.  Since so many of our residents have moved here from out of state or from larger cities within the state, I can identify with their desire to enjoy a different pace of life.  The best part of my job is spending time with my clients and identifying exactly what will best suit them for the type of lifestyle they enjoy.”

Blaney’s wife, Carson, is a Southport business owner.  LRES Property Management is a community association management company working with dozens of area homeowner associations. The couple has two young children, John Blaney and Lauralynn plus a black lab puppy named Duke and Elvis, the cat.  In addition to loving the coastal lifestyle, Blaney is a big fan of college football and basketball, fishing and spending time with his children.
